May 30 - June 3, 2022

Below is the Math AGENDA for the week of Monday May 30 - Friday June 3 for my Grade 8 & 9 Math classes: Grade 8 Monday May 30  -  Hey everyone, today we are writing the  Chapter 1 QUIZ.  The quiz will include sections 1.1 - 1.2. You will need to know all of the graphs and what they are best suited for and how to make your own circle graph. If you have a geometry set, or at-least a ruler and compass that will come in handy.  Tuesday May 31 -    Hey everyone, today we are wrapping up the notes on section 1.3 and we're looking at items to look for when critiquing graphs.   Please refer to the section 1.3 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review. Today's activity is on Pg 32 (#6 - 9) Wednesday June 1 -  Hey everyone, today are using class time as work period to complete the rest of the questions in section 1.3. Moreover, we will be reviewing the concepts learned in this section.   Please refer to the section 1.3 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog

Below is the Math AGENDA for the week of Monday May 23 - Friday May 27 for my Grade 8 & 9 Math classes: Grade 8 Monday May 23  - No School, May Long Weekend... Tuesday May 24 -    Hey guys, today we are looking at misrepresenting data with distortions in the graph. This is done by putting a break in the graph, which in turn causes distortions in the bar, and/or line graphs. Moreover, we looked at distorting pictographs by changing the size(s) of the pictures.  Today's activity is Pg 23 (#1-7) Wednesday May 25 -  Hey everyone, today we are wrapping up the notes on Section 1.2 and we are looking at distorting bar graphs. We will do this by  changing the size of the BARS that you are drawing which in turn changes the AREA of the bars hence giving a distortion.  Today's activity is on Pg 24 (#8 - 12) Please refer to the section 1.2 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review. Thursday May 26 -   Hey everyone, today are using class time as work period to c

May 16 - May 20, 2022

Below is the Math AGENDA for the week of Monday May 16 - Friday May 20 for my Grade 8 & 9 Math classes: Grade 8 Monday May 16  -  Hey everyone, today we are writing the  Chapter 10 UNIT TEST . All the best! Tuesday May 17 -    Hey everyone, today are starting Chapter 1 REPRESENTING DATA . We looked at defining data, interval and some conversions such as 100cm = 1m, and 12inches = 1foot. Moreover, we will be learning about the 6 types of graphs we will be using, and what each graph is best suited for.  Please refer to the section 1.1 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review. Today's activity is on Pg 13 (#1, 3 - 6) Wednesday May 18 -  Hey everyone, today we looked at representing data with a CIRCLE graph.  A reminder that to find the percent you divide the value by the total and then you multiply by a hundred.  Also, a reminder that to find the angle of the sector in the circle you simply take the PERCENT OF THE CIRCLE, (ie; convert the percent to a d

Below is the Math AGENDA for the week of Monday May 9 - Friday May 13 for my Grade 8 & 9 Math classes: Grade 8 Monday May 9  -  Hey guys, today we are writing the  Chapter 10 QUIZ  which will include sections 10.1-10.3. Make sure you know how to solve 1 and 2 step equations Algebraically and make sure you know the strategies involved to solve word-problems that require 1 or 2 steps. All the best!! Tuesday May 10 -    Hey everyone, today we are starting section 10.4 and we're looking at understanding how to solve multi-step equations of the form a(x + b) = c using a model. The model we will be using is Algebra Tiles. They are a good way of visualizing the manipulation on both sides of the equation when they are solved.  Please refer to the section 10.4 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.  Today's activity is on Pg 397 (#2-7) Wednesday May 11 -  Hey guys, today we are wrapping up section 10.4 and we're looking at solving multi-step equation

Below is the Math AGENDA for the week of Monday May 2 - Friday May 6 for my Grade 8 & 9 Math classes: Grade 8 Monday May 2  -  Hey guys, today we are looking at solving 2-step equations of the form ax + b = c by using Algebra. Remember:  When solving a 2-step equation: Isolate the variable, by performing the opposite operation to both sides of the equation. Remembering to:  1st: Perform the adding/subtracting 2nd: Perform the multiplying/dividing Please refer to the section 10.2 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.  Today's activity is on Pg 385 (#7-10) Tuesday May 3 -    Hey everyone, today we are wrapping up section 10.2. We are looking using class time as a work-period to complete the following:  Please refer to the section 10.2 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details.  Today's activity is on Pg 386 (#11 - 17,19) Wednesday May 4 -  Hi everyone, today there we are starting section 10.3 and we're looking at understanding how
