May 9 - May 13, 2022

Below is the Math AGENDA for the week of Monday May 9 - Friday May 13 for my Grade 8 & 9 Math classes:

Grade 8

Monday May 9 - Hey guys, today we are writing the Chapter 10 QUIZ which will include sections 10.1-10.3. Make sure you know how to solve 1 and 2 step equations Algebraically and make sure you know the strategies involved to solve word-problems that require 1 or 2 steps. All the best!!

Tuesday May 10 -  Hey everyone, today we are starting section 10.4 and we're looking at understanding how to solve multi-step equations of the form a(x + b) = c using a model. The model we will be using is Algebra Tiles. They are a good way of visualizing the manipulation on both sides of the equation when they are solved.

Please refer to the section 10.4 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 397 (#2-7)

Wednesday May 11 - Hey guys, today we are wrapping up section 10.4 and we're looking at solving multi-step equations of the form a(x + b) = c. We are going to solve these types of equations by applying the distributive property.

Please refer to the section 10.4 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 398 (#9-15)

Thursday May 12 -  Hey everyone, today we are using class time to review. We are working on the Chapter 8 Review on:

Pg 400 (#1-23), this is not homework as you will have class time tomorrow to work on it

Friday May 13  Hey everyone, today we are continuing to review. So you can use class time to work on the Chapter 10 Review on Pg 400 (#1-23)

If you are done you may want to work on the Chapter 10 Practice Test which is on: Pg 402 (#1-15)

Moreover, I will have a couple extra-practice worksheets for you to work on if you'd like.

***A reminder to review/study for the Chapter 10 UNIT TEST on Monday May 16.

I hope you all had a great weekend!😊

Grade 9

Monday May 9 Hey everyone, today we are working in Section 10.1, and we are looking at inquiring about a special case with the relationship between the central angle (of 180 degrees) and the inscribed angle subtending the same arc. Again, please refer to the section 10.1 notes in the Gr. 9 Notes tab on my blog for additional information.

Today's activity is on Pg 383 (#9-12)

Tuesday May 10 - Hey everyone, today we are using class time to wrap up section 10.1 and we are working on application questions pertaining to angles within a circle.

Today's activity is on Pg 384 (#13 - 20) and if you'd like a challenge try #21.

Wednesday May 11 - Hi guys, today we are starting section 10.2 and we are looking at we'll be learning about the perpendicular bisector of a chord. We'll be looking at it's properties in detail, and applying this concept with an application question that illustrates this concept.

Today's activity is on Pg 389 (#2-7)

Thursday May 12 - Hey everyone, today we are wrapping up Section 10.2 and we are looking at applying the perpendicular bisector property in a real world scenario.

Today's activity is on Pg 390 (#8-18)

Friday May 13 - Today we are starting section 10.3, and we will be learning about Tangents, Tangents to a circle, and the Tangent Chord Relationship. Moreover, we will be looking at applying this concept in an application problem.

Today's activity is on Pg 399 (#1-5)

***A reminder to review/study for the Chapter 10 QUIZ on Tuesday May 17.

I hope you all had a great weekend!😊
