May 2 - May 6, 2022

Below is the Math AGENDA for the week of Monday May 2 - Friday May 6 for my Grade 8 & 9 Math classes:

Grade 8

Monday May 2 - Hey guys, today we are looking at solving 2-step equations of the form ax + b = c by using Algebra. Remember:

When solving a 2-step equation:

Isolate the variable, by performing the opposite operation to both sides of the equation. Remembering to:

1st: Perform the adding/subtracting

2nd: Perform the multiplying/dividing

Please refer to the section 10.2 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 385 (#7-10)

Tuesday May 3 -  Hey everyone, today we are wrapping up section 10.2. We are looking using class time as a work-period to complete the following:

Please refer to the section 10.2 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's activity is on Pg 386 (#11 - 17,19)

Wednesday May 4 - Hi everyone, today there we are starting section 10.3 and we're looking at understanding how to solve 2-step equations that are of the form x/a + b = c by using a model. The model that we will be using is the Algebra tiles. They are a good way of visualizing the steps (manipulation) on both sides of the equation when they are solved. You are able to see that we undo the adding/subtracting first, then we have to undo the multiplying/dividing.

Please refer to the section 10.3 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's activity is on Pg 391 (#3-7)

Thursday May 5 - Hey everyone, today we are working in section 10.3 and looking at solving 2-step equations that are of the form x/a + b = c using ALGEBRA.

Remember, when solving a 2-step equation:

Isolate the variable, by performing the opposite operation to both sides of the equation. Remembering to:

1st: Perform the adding/subtracting

2nd: Perform the multiplying/dividing

Please refer to the section 10.3 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 392 (#8-11)

Friday May 6 Hey everyone, today we are using class time as a work-period to wrap up section 10.3, and using the remainder of the time to prepare and study for tomorrow's quiz. Moreover, there were a few extra-practice worksheets to do for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 392 (#12-16)

Please refer to the section 10.3 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

***A reminder that the Chapter 10 QUIZ on sections (10.1-10.3) is on Monday May 9...

I hope you all had a great weekend!😊

Today's activity is on Pg 370 (#1-15)

Wednesday May 4 - Hey everyone, today we are writing the Chapter 9 UNIT TEST. All the best!

Thursday May 5 - Today we will be starting Chapter 10 (Circle Geometry). We will be reviewing Types of angles, naming angles and the Pythagorean Theorem.

The activity for today will be applying a few Pythagorean Theorem Questions.

Friday May 6 - Hey everyone, today we working in section 10.1, and we are inquiring about the relationship between inscribed angles and central angles that are subtending the same arc. I hope that you enjoyed today's inquiry activity.

Please refer to the section 10.1 notes in the Gr. 9 Notes tab on my blog for additional information.

Today's assignment is on Pg 382 (#1-8)

I hope you all had a great weekend!😊
