We are looking at the vocabulary needed in order to communicate and be successful in this unit. Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday March 15 - Friday March 19 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes:  Grade 8 Monday March 15  - Hey everyone, today we are writing the Chapter 3 QUIZ (which includes sections 3.1-3.3). Tuesday March 16  - Hey everyone, today are wrapping up the notes from section 3.4 and we'll be looking at how to apply the Pythagorean Theorem and find the missing length (LEG) of a right triangle.  Please refer to the section 3.4 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.  Today's activity is on Pg 103 (#1-5) Wednesday March 17 -  Hey everyone, today we are using class time to wrap up the questions from section 3.4.   Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday March 8 - Friday March 12 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes:  Grade 8 Monday March 8  - Hey everyone, today we will are looking at wrapping up Section 3.2 and we'll be looking at the fact that a right triangle will meet the following criteria:  "the sum of the areas of the squares attached to the legs of the triangle is equal to the area of the square attached to the hypotenuse." Please refer to the section 3.2 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.  Today's activity is on Pg 92 (#7 - 21). This activity is due on Wednesday. Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday March 1 - Friday March 5 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes:  Grade 8 Monday March 1  - Hey everyone, today we will be looking at 2 ways to determine if a number is a square number.  Method 1: by modelling it with tiles, and Method 2: the idea of prime factorization.  Also, we will be looking at finding the prime factors of a number by using a prime factor tree.  Please refer to the section 3.1 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.  Today's activity is on Pg 85 (#5-8) Tuesday March 2  - Hey everyone, today are looking at how to determine if a number is a perfect square by using prime factorization. We are working on the Chapter 10 Review on:  Pg 400 (#1-23), this is not homework as you will have class time tomorrow to work on it Tuesday February 23  - Hey everyone, today we are continuing to review.   Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday February 15 - Friday February 19 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes:  Grade 8 Monday February 15  - No school today, as it is Family Day. I hope you all had a great day! Tuesday February 16  - Hey everyone, today we are starting section 10.4 and we're looking at understanding how to solve multi-step equations of the form a(x + b) = c using a model. The model we will be using is Algebra Tiles. They are a good way of visualizing the manipulation on both sides of the equation when they are solved.  Please refer to the section 10.4 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.  Today's activity is on Pg 397 (#2-7) Wednesday February 17 -  Hey guys, today we are wrapping up section 10.4 and we're looking at solving multi-step equations of the form a(x + b) = c. Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday February 8 - Friday February 12 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes:  Grade 8 Monday February 8  -  Hey everyone, today we are working in section 10.3 and looking at solving 2-step equations that are of the form x/a + b = c using ALGEBRA.  Remember, when solving a 2-step equation: Isolate the variable, by performing the opposite operation to both sides of the equation.
