April 4 - April 8, 2022

Below is the Math AGENDA for the week of Monday April 4 - Friday April 8 for my Grade 8 & 9 Math classes:

Grade 8

Monday April 4 - Hey everyone, today are looking at how to determine if a number is a perfect square by using prime factorization. "You will see that you must have an EVEN number of prime factors in order to be a perfect square."

Please refer to the section 3.1 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 85 (#1,2, 9-16)

Tuesday April 5 - Hey everyone, today we wrapped up section 3.1 and looked at SQUARING, and its opposite which is taking the SQUARE ROOT. Moreover, we looked at applying this concepts visually with squaring --> finding the area, and taking the square root --> finding the side length

Please refer to the section 3.1 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 86 (#17-22,24,25)

Wednesday April 6 - Hi guys, today we will be starting section 3.2, and inquiring and doing a group activity and exploring the properties of triangles by using squares.

The activity is on Pg 88 (#1-7). Please wrap this up at home if you didn't finish it in class.

Thursday April 7 - Hi everyone, today we went over the inquiry activity from yesterday to gain a deeper understanding as to how do three squares attached at the corners relate to the triangle in the centre.

Today's activity is on Pg 91 (#1-6)

Friday April 8 Hey everyone, today we will are looking at wrapping up Section 3.2 and we'll be looking at the fact that a right triangle will meet the following criteria:  "the sum of the areas of the squares attached to the legs of the triangle is equal to the area of the square attached to the hypotenuse."

Please refer to the section 3.2 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 92 (#7 - 21). This activity is due on Tuesday April 12.

I hope you all have a great weekend!! 😊

Grade 9

Monday April 4 Today we are wrapping up section 8.2 and using class time as a work-period.

Today's activity is on Pg 312 (#23 - 31). All the best!

Tuesday April 5 - Hey everyone, welcome back! I hope that you all had an excellent winter break. Today we are starting section 8.3 and looking at solving multi-step equations of the form a(x + b) = c. We will be looking at two strategies and how to solve them. One is to use the distributive property and the other is to divide out the numerical coefficient. Moreover, I we will look at third strategy that will allow you to get rid of the brackets and fractions altogether.

Please refer to the section 8.3 NOTES in the gr. 9 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's work is on Pg 318 (#1,2,5,6ad, 7ad, 8,9)

Wednesday April 6 - Today we are writing the Chapter 8 QUIZ (on section 8.1-8.2).

Thursday April 7 - Hey everyone, today we are applying the equations of the form a(x + b) = c in real-world problems and applications.

Please refer to the section 8.3 NOTES in the gr. 9 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's activity is on Pg 320 (#10ad, 11ad, 12-20)

Friday April 8 - Hey everyone, today we are using class time to work on, and wrap up section 8.3.

Please refer to the Section 8.3 NOTES in the grade 9 notes section on my Blog.
