Below is the Math AGENDA for the week of Monday April 11 - Friday April 15 for my Grade 8 & 9 Math classes:

Grade 8

Monday April 11 - Hey everyone, today we are starting section 3.3 and we are looking at how to estimate the square root of a non-perfect square using mental math (ie: without a calculator). Moreover, we will also look at application questions pertaining to this idea.

Today's activity is on Pg 98 (#1,3,4,5)

Tuesday April 12 - Hey everyone, today we learned how to find a number such that its square root is in between two other whole numbers. Moreover, we learned how to use our square root button and approximate the square root of non-perfect squares.

Today's activity is on Pg 99 (#6-18)

Wednesday April 13 - Hi guys, today we will be starting section 3.4, and we are looking at how to use/apply the Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of the hypotenuse in a right triangle. We looked at all of the algebraic steps involved in solving this equation.

The activity is on Pg 101 (#1-3), this is the in-class activity and should be completed in class. 

Also, please complete Pg 103 (#1-5) by Friday this week!

Moreover, a reminder to study and prepare for the Chapter 3 QUIZ that tomorrow. The quiz is on sections 3.1-3.3. All the best studying!

Thursday April 14 - Hey everyone, today we are writing the Chapter 3 QUIZ (which includes sections 3.1-3.3). All the best!

Friday April 15 - No school today...

Grade 9

Monday April 11 Hey everyone, today we are starting section 8.4 and we are learning how to solve equations of the form ax = b + cx, ax + b = cx +d, and a(bx + c) = d(ex + f). These equations involve having the variable on both sides of the equations and also applying the distributive property. 

Please refer to the Section 8.4 NOTES in the grade 9 notes section on my Blog. 

Today's activity is on Pg 327 (#9, 11-15, 17-21)

Tuesday April 12 - Today we are applying the concept from last day in word-problems and real-world applications.

Today's activity is on Pg 328 (#22,23,27,28,30b).

Wednesday April 13 - Hey everyone, today we are using class time to work on the:

Chapter 8 Review on Pg 330 (#1-20). 

Feel free to do about half of it as you will get extra class time to work on in it tomorrow. Moreover, please make sure that you've completed the section 8.4 work from last day. 

Thursday April 14 - Hey everyone, today we are working on the:

Chapter 8 Review on Pg 330 (#1-20). Do your best to wrap it up today. 

***A reminder that the Chapter 8 UNIT TEST is on Wednesday April 20!
