January 10 - January 14, 2021

Below is the Math AGENDA for the week of Monday January 10 - Friday January 14 for my Grade 8 & 9 Math classes:

Grade 8

Monday January 10 - Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break. I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break. Hey everyone, today we are starting our work with Algebra and we're starting Chapter 9 (LINEAR RELATIONS). Today we defined the vocabulary needed for this section, and we looked at making a table of values from a graph and looking at the ordered pairs.

Please refer to the section 9.1 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details.

For additional support please read and review pages 332-334 in your textbooks.

Today's activity is on Pg 337 (#1, 4-7)

Tuesday January 11 - Hey everyone, today we will look at analyzing linear graphs and answering questions from the graph referring to the x and y axis. Moreover, we will look at making a table of value from the points on the graph.

Please refer to the section 9.1 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's activity is on Pg 338 (#8-18)

Wednesday January 12 - Hey guys, today we are staring section 9.2 and we'll be looking at patterns within a table of values. You will be able to determine the equation (formula) from the table of values.

Please refer to the section 9.2 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details.

For additional support please read and review page 344 in your textbook

Today's activity is on Pg 348 (#1-6)

Thursday January 13 - Hey everyone, today we are continuing to work on Section 9.2 and we are looking at a table of values to determine whether or not the relationship between them is LINEAR.

In conclusion you will see that:

A linear relation can be known from the table of values:

-if the x column goes up or down by a constant value, AND

-if the y column goes up or down by a constant value

Please refer to the section 9.2 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's activity is on Pg 349 (#7-14)

Friday January 14 Hi everyone, today we are looking at using a table of value to solve a problem.

Please refer to the section 9.2 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's activity is Pg 350 (#15 - 20)

Have an amazing weekend!! 😊

Grade 9

Monday January 10 -  Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break. I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break. Hey everyone, today we are starting Chapter 1 (Symmetry & Surface Area). We'll be going over some vocabulary, defining symmetry, line symmetry and the different types of line symmetry.

Please refer to the section 1.1 NOTES in the gr. 9 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is the "alphabet symmetry" worksheet. The instructions are outlined in the section 1.1 notes above.

Tuesday January 11 - Hey guys, today we are going over the alphabet symmetry activity from yesterday. Moreover, we learned about the 3 methods to reflect images. 1) Paper folding, 2) Using a Mira, and 3) Using grid paper.

Please refer to the section 1.1 NOTES in the gr. 9 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 11 (#1 - 8)

Wednesday January 12 - Hey everyone, today we are using grid paper and reflections to create images with symmetry. Moreover, we'll be looking at transforming points to create a shape and then finding its AREA. Below is a cool website to be creative and make symmetrical images by using reflections and/or rotations.

Please refer to the section 1.1 NOTES in the gr. 9 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 12 (#9 - 13)

Thursday January 13 - Hey everyone, today we are wrapping up section 1.1 and we are using class time as a work-period.

Please refer to the section 1.1 NOTES in the gr. 9 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 13 (#14 - 21, 23)

Friday January 14 - Hey everyone, today we are starting section 1.2 and we'll be learning about Rotational Symmetry. Moreover, we'll be defining Rotational symmetry, the centre of rotation, and the angle of rotation (via: angles and fraction of a turn).

Please refer to the section 1.2 NOTES in the gr. 9 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review.

Today's activity is on Pg 20 (#1-5)

Have an amazing weekend!! 😊
