  Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday April 5 - Friday April 9 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes: 

Grade 8

Monday April 5 - No school today, I hope you all had a great spring break!

Tuesday April 6 - Hey everyone, today are starting section 5.2 and looking at naming 3-D objects. Moreover, we will be going over drawing the nets of 3-D objects and making one of our own.

Today's activity is on Pg 173 (#1-12) and is due on Wednesday as you will get some time tomorrow in class to wrap it up. 

Wednesday April 7 - Hey everyone, today we are starting section 5.3, and we are looking at calculating the surface area of rectangular prisms. A reminder that it has 6 sides and you will need to find the area of all 6 sides and take their sum.

Today's activity is on Pg 179 (#1-6)

Thursday April 8 -  Hi everyone, today we are looking at calculating the surface area of a triangular prism. A reminder that there are 5 sides and you will need to find the are of (2 triangles and 3 rectangles and take their sum).

The activity is on Pg 180 (#7-16)

Friday April 9 Hi everyone, we are starting section 5.4, and we are looking at understanding and proving the surface area formula for a CYLINDER. Also, as an example we will be looking at calculating the surface area of a cylindrical object.

Today's activity is on Pg 186 (#1-4)

A reminder that the Chapter 5 QUIZ is on Monday April 12, and will be on sections 5.1-5.3.

Tuesday April 6 - Hey everyone, today we wrapped up the notes for section 5.2 and looked at two ways to collect like terms (ie: combining like terms). With the first method, we used Algebra Tiles, and the second method we will be using Algebra (numbers and symbols).

Today's activity is Pg 187 (#10-22), try #23 

However your goal is to complete #10-13, as you will get a work-period tomorrow to wrap up the rest of the assignment.

Wednesday April 7 - Hey everyone, today we are using class time to wrap up section 5.2.

Thursday April 8 - Hey everyone, today we are starting section 5.3 and we are looking at opposites (ie: the opposite of a polynomial) and how to add polynomials.

Today's activity is on Pg 196 (#5-7)

Friday April 9 - Hi everyone, today we are looking at opposites (ie: the opposite of a polynomial). Moreover, we are looking at how to subtract polynomials. 

Please refer to the section 5.3 NOTES in the gr. 9 notes tab on my Blog for details and for review. 

Today's activity is 195 (#1-3, 8-12).

Also, a reminder that the Chapter 5 QUIZ is on Monday April 12, it is on sections 5.1-5.2. Make sure you know all of your definitions, and how to recognize like terms, and how to combine like terms using a model (Algebra tiles) and using Algebra (numbers and symbols).
