January 4 - January 8, 2021

Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday January 4 - Friday January 8 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes:

Grade 8

Monday January 4 - Hey everyone, welcome back! I hope that you all had an excellent winter break. Today we are starting section 11.3, and we are looking at a new strategy that involves fractions when calculating the probability of independent events. The strategy is to:

(Multiply the probabilities of the single events together to find the probability of the two independent events.)

Please refer to the section 11.3 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's activity is on Pg 432 (#1-7)

Tuesday January 5 - Hey everyone, today we are wrapping up section 11.3, and we looked at simulating experimental probabilities. Moreover, we read example #3 (on Page 430) and we completed the show you know on Page 431.

Please refer to the section 11.3 NOTES in the gr. 8 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's activity is on Pg 433 (#8-16)

Wednesday January 6 - Hey guys, today we are using class time to work on the Chapter 11 REVIEW:

Today's activity is on Pg 436 (#1-9)

Furthermore, the Chapter 11 QUIZ #1 will be available for you to write today (January 6) at 5pm, and you will have until Friday (January 8) until 8pm to write the quiz. Moreover, all of the details about the quiz and how to access the quiz can be found in D2L. Please READ the announcement in D2L before you start your quiz.

Thursday January 7 - Hey everyone, today we are using class time to wrap up the work on the Chapter 11 REVIEW:

Today's activity is on Pg 437 (#10-15)

***Also, please note that you have all day today to write the Chapter 11 QUIZ #1.

Friday January 8 - Hi everyone, today we are working on the Chapter 11 Practice Test:

Today's activity is Pg 438 (#1-9)

***Please make note that you also have today to write the Chapter 11 QUIZ #1. The quiz will be open until 8pm, thereafter it will be closed and you will NOT have an additional opportunity to write it.

I hope you all have an awesome weekend, take care!😀

Grade 9

Monday January 4 - Hey everyone, welcome back! I hope that you all had an excellent winter break. Today we are starting section 8.3 and looking at solving multi-step equations of the form a(x + b) = c. We will be looking at two strategies and how to solve them. One is to use the distributive property and the other is to divide out the numerical coefficient. Moreover, I we will look at third strategy that will allow you to get rid of the brackets and fractions altogether.

Please refer to the section 8.3 NOTES in the gr. 9 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's work is on Pg 318 (#1,2,5,6ad, 7ad, 8,9)

Tuesday January 5 - Hey everyone, today we are applying the equations of the form a(x + b) = c in real-world problems and applications.

Please refer to the section 8.3 NOTES in the gr. 9 notes tab on my Blog for details.

Today's activity is on Pg 320 (#10ad, 11ad, 12-20)

Wednesday January 6 - Hey everyone, today we are using class time to work on, and wrap up section 8.3.

Please refer to the Section 8.3 NOTES in the grade 9 notes section on my Blog.

Today's activity is on Pg 321 (#21 - 23, 25,27)

Furthermore, the Chapter 8 QUIZ #1 (on sections 8.1-8.2) will be available for you to write today (January 6) at 5pm, and you will have until Friday (January 8) until 8pm to write the quiz. Moreover, all of the details about the quiz and how to access the quiz can be found in D2L. Please READ the announcement in D2L before you start your quiz.

Thursday January 7 - Hey everyone, today we are starting section 8.4 and we are learning how to solve equations of the form ax = b + cx, ax + b = cx +d, and a(bx + c) = d(ex + f). These equations involve having the variable on both sides of the equations and also applying the distributive property.

Please refer to the Section 8.4 NOTES in the grade 9 notes section on my Blog.

Today's activity is on Pg 327 (#9, 11-15, 17-21)

***Also, please note that you have all day today to write the Chapter 8 QUIZ #1.

Friday January 8 - Today we are applying the concept from last day in word-problems and real-world applications.

Please refer to the Section 8.4 NOTES in the grade 9 notes section on my Blog.

Today's activity is on Pg 328 (#22,23,27,28,30b).

***Please make note that you also have today to write the Chapter 8 QUIZ #1. The quiz will be open until 8pm, thereafter it will be closed and you will NOT have an additional opportunity to write it.

I hope that you all have an amazing winter break, enjoy your time with your family!! 😁
