Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday November 2 - Friday November 6 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes:
Grade 8
Monday November 2 - Hey everyone, today we started section 6.4 and we looked at how to convert an improper fraction to a mixed number, and a mixed number to an improper fraction. Moreover, we looked at how to use a rectangle model to help us multiply a mixed number by a mixed number.
Today's activity if you didn't finish in class is Pg 216 (#1-4)
Tuesday November 3 - Hi everyone, today we wrapped up section 6.4 and looked at how to model the multiplication of mixed numbers with an area model. We also learned how to mathematically multiply mixed numbers. The steps are below:
Step 1) Convert the mixed numbers into improper fractions,
Step 2) Then multiply numerators together, and multiply denominators together, and simplify your answer.
Today's activity is on Pg 220 (#4,5,7 9-16)
Wednesday November 4 - Hi everyone, today we started section 6.5, and learned how to model the division of fractions and mixed numbers. We modeled the DIVISION with fraction strips, please refer to your notes for the details.
Today's activity is on Pg 227 (#1-6) and is due on Friday November 6.
Thursday November 5 - Today we are writing the Chapter 6 QUIZ (on sections 6.1 - 6.4). Please make sure you know your definitions and how to apply fraction multiplication and division.
Friday November 6 - Hey everyone today we are wrapping up section 6.5 and learned the rule when dividing mixed numbers together. Moreover, we looked at applying mixed number division through a word-problem.
Today's activity is on Pg 227 (#7-12,14,17,19,20,23).

Monday November 2 - Hey everyone, today we are starting Chapter 2 Rational Numbers. We will be learning the details of our Real Number System.
Today's activity is to wrap up the Real Number System BOOKLET.
Tuesday November 3 - Today we will be starting section 2.1 and looking at comparing numbers to one another in their fraction and decimal form.
Today's activity is on Pg 51 (#1-9)
Wednesday November 4 - Hi everyone, today we are wrapping up section 2.1, and looking at how to compare rational numbers and how to find a number that is in between two numbers.
Today's activity is on Pg 52 (#10-20,22,25).
Thursday November 5 - Hi guys, today we started section 2.2, and looked at decimal operations and how to add and subtract decimals by hand and using a scientific calculator.
Today's activity is on Pg 59 (#1-5)
Friday November 6 - Hi everyone, today we will be wrapping up the notes on section 2.2 and looking at multiplying decimal numbers using the algorithm, and dividing decimal numbers using long-division. Moreover, we will be refining our estimation skills today.
Today's activity is on Pg 60 (#6-11)
