Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday November 9 - Friday November 13 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes:
Grade 8
Monday November 16 - Hey everyone, today we started Chapter 8 (INTEGERS). Today's lesson was an attempt to prepare us for the unit, so we reviewed what is an Integer, how to model it, and how to add and subtract integers.
Today's activity is the Ch. 8 Get Ready Worksheet. This is due on Wednesday Nov 18. Also a reminder to study for the Chapter 6 Unit test tomorrow.
Tuesday November 17 - Today we are writing the Chapter 6 (Fraction Operations) UNIT TEST. Make sure you know how to multiply, divide, add and subtract fractions using the math rules. All the best!!
Wednesday November 18 - Today we will be looking at exploring the multiplication of integers with a model. So the in class activity is Pg 286 (#1-7). Moreover, we will be working on using integer chips to perform integer multiplication.
Today's activity is on Pg 290 (#1-10), and is due on Monday Nov 23.
Also, a reminder that the pep rally will take place during block 3 (ie. periods 5 & 6)
Thursday November 19 - No school today, as there are Student Learning Conferences.
Friday November 20 - No school today, as it is a PD day.

Monday November 16 - Today we are using class time to wrap up the application questions in section 2.3. Furthermore, all of you would have received a sheet on how to strategize when solving problems.
Today's assignment is on Pg 69 (#13 - 25) and is due tomorrow if you didn't finish it in class today.
Tuesday November 17 - Hey everyone, today we are staring section 2.4, and we are looking at the concept of squaring and square roots. Moreover, we will have determined that to find the area you would have to SQUARE the number, and to find the side length you would have to take the SQUARE ROOT. Also, we learned how to determine if a number is a PERFECT SQUARE.
Today's activity is on Pg 78 (#5, 8-10)
Wednesday November 18 - Today we are wrapping up the notes in section 2.4, and we are looking at finding the square root of a perfect square using estimation and a fraction method. Moreover, we looked at how to estimate the square root of any number (perfect square or a non-perfect square).
Today's activity is on Pg 79 (#2,3, 12-19) and is due Monday Nov 23.
