October 5 - October 9, 2020

Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday October 5 - Friday October 9 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes: 

Grade 8

Monday October 5 - Hey everyone, today we wrote the Chapter 2 UNIT TEST on (Ratios, Rates and Proportional Reasoning. 

If you were away please let me know when you come to Math class so I can arrange some time to write the test.

Tuesday October 6 - Today we are starting section 4.2, and we are looking at converting fractions to decimals, and decimals to percents. Furthermore, we'll be going in the opposite direction. 

Today's activity is on Pg 135 (#5-12)

Wednesday October 7 - Today we are wrapping up section 4.2, and we are looking at defining repeating decimals, and terminating decimals. Moreover, we are looking at converting terminating decimals into fractions. Finally, we'll be looking at application questions and determining the percent. 

Today's activity is on Pg 136 (#13 - 21)

Thursday October 8 - Today we are working in section 4.3, and we'll be looking at finding the percent of a number. We'll be using two strategies. 1) Mental Math, 2) Using an algorithm to calculate the percent of a number. 

Today's activity is on Pg 141 (#1-8)

Friday October 9 - Today there is no school, as it's a non-instructional day.

Grade 9

Monday October 5 - Hey everyone, today we went over how to convert specific units from one measurement to another. For example how to change m to Km, g to Kg, etc... Moreover, we are using the class time to work on the:

Chapter 3 Review on Pg 120 (#1- 22)

**Moreover, there were a few extra practice worksheets that you were given the opportunity to work on. 

Tuesday October 6 - Today we are using class time to go over the Ch. 2 Review, and we'll be working on the: 

Chapter 3 Practice Test on Pg 122 (#1-16)

Wednesday October 7- Today we are writing the Chapter 3 UNIT TEST. All the best!

Thursday October 8 - Today we will be starting Ch. 10 (Circle Geometry). We will be reviewing Types of angles, naming angles and the Pythagorean Theorem. 

The activity will be a applying a few Pythagorean Theorem Questions. 

Friday October 9 - There is no school today, as it's a non-instructional day.
