Below is the Math agenda for the week of Monday October 26 - Friday October 30 for my Grade 8 & 9 classes:
Grade 8
Monday October 26 - Hey everyone, today we started section 6.2, and we are looking at modeling the division of a fraction and a whole number with a model (fraction strips), and a diagram, (number line).
Today's activity is on Pg 208 (#1-5)
Tuesday October 27 - Hey everyone, today we are wrapping up section 6.2, and we are looking at applying fraction division in a word problem. Moreover, we looked at the math rule to help us divide a whole number by a fraction. The 4 steps are below:
Step 1: Write the whole number over 1
Step 2: Change division to multiplication
Step 3: take the reciprocal of the number to the right
Step 4: Multiply straight across
Today's activity is on Pg 208 (#6-14), also please bring a few pencil crayons for tomorrow's activity.
Wednesday October 28 - Hi everyone, today we explored the multiplication of two proper fractions, using a paper folding method.
The in class activity that you worked on (with a partner) was on Pg 210 (#1-6).
Please finish the above activity, if you didn't already in class.
Thursday October 29 - Hi everyone, today we looked at two methods of multiplying a proper fraction by a proper fraction.
1. Using a diagram (rectangle model)
2. Using the math rule: Step 1) Multiply the numerators. Step 2) Multiply the denominators. Step 3) Simplify (reduce, and put in lowest terms).
3. Moreover, we looked at the cross-reduction method. Please refer to your notes for details.
Today's activity is on Pg 214 (#4-15)
Friday October 30 - No School today as it is a PD day.

Tuesday October 27 - Today we are using class time to review, and we are working on:
Chapter 10 Practice Test on Pg 406 (#1-9)
Wednesday October 28 - Today we are going over any questions that you might still have and we are wrapping up the Chapter 10 Review and Practice test. Please make sure that you finish these first. Moreover, there were a couple extra practice worksheets that you received on Monday that you can work on to review for tomorrow's unit test.
Thursday October 29 - Hey everyone, today we are writing the Chapter 10 UNIT TEST! All the best!
Friday October 30 - No School today as it is a PD day.
